Remove the spring from the feeder and throw onto a concrete floor with force. If the springs breaks, that means it is cracked. Tighten the rubber feet of the feeder. Check the feet for cuts, or if the rubber is too hard. If either of these has taken place, then the feet will need to be replaced. Inspect the rusted component.
